Detailed Safari Itinerary

Arrival

After landing in KIA Airport you will be met by the “Francoline Adventure” representative who will give you a short briefing concerning your safari and then drive you to a Hotel Nairobi where you will check in and have your overnight stay. So settle back and relax as you prepare to start your honeymoon safari!

Day 01 – Arusha to Nairobi

After breakfast you will check-out and being your journey to Amboseli National Park. This is the best park to get close to free-ranging elephant and have spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Get the best snapshots of the amazing African sunset and sunrise. Amboseli National Park has an ecosystem mainly made up of savannah grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will arrive at Amboseli Kibo Safari Camp in time for lunch. After lunch you will take off for an exciting afternoon game drive and later return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 02 – Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast you will take off on an early morning game drive and then return to camp for breakfast. After breakfast you will freshen up and take off on a mid-morning game drive. You will return to camp for lunch and then spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure swimming in the pool. There will be opportunities for more game drives in the evening in search of more animals. Later in the evening you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 03 – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast you will take off on an early morning game drive and then return to camp for breakfast. After breakfast you will freshen up and take off on a mid-morning game drive. You will return to camp for lunch and then spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure swimming in the pool. There will be opportunities for more game drives in the evening in search of more animals. Later in the evening you will return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 04 – Amboseli National Park- Lake Naivasha

After breakfast you will check-out and drive to Lake Naivasha with the route going through Nairobi. You will arrive in time for lunch at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. Today’s activities include either Hippo boat ride or Hells Gate hiking.
Option 1: Take a hippo boat ride around the lake. Listen for the haunting call of a Fish Eagle high over the lake as it prepares to grab fish from the water.
Option 2: Walking safari at Hells Gate

Other Optional activities include cycling.

Day 05 – Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Game Reserve

After breakfast you will check-out and depart for Maasai Mara; one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. This is the park where you will have opportunity to see the “Big 5” as well as possibly the Wildebeest Migration. Maasai Mara is situated in southwest Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing ecosystem. It is globally famous for its exceptional population of lion, leopard and cheetah, and the annual migration of Thomson’s gazelle and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Wildebeest Migration. You will arrive in time for lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge. After lunch and check-in, you will take part in an exciting evening game drive and later return for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 06 – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast you will exit the camp with packed lunches in hand to take part in a whole day game drive at the Mara National Reserve in search of the “Big 5”. You will later return for dinner and overnight in Mara Serena Lodge. Mara Sopa lodge is located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills and is one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their center.

Day 07 – Maasai Mara National Reserve

You will rise early for a morning game drive and then return for breakfast. You will then freshen up and take off for a mid-morning game drive. You will return for lunch and then spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure like swimming in the pool, More game drives take place in the evening in search of more animals. After sunset you will return for dinner and your overnight stay at the camp. You may also choose a morning Balloon ride (Optional) where you will be picked-up and transferred to the balloon launch site. Here you will meet your pilot, receive a briefing and watch the inflation of your balloon. The actual ride starts at 6am. The pilot controls the altitude of your balloon: Sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife and action far below.

Day 08 – Maasai Mara National Reserve – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you will check-out and depart the Mara with a packed lunch to enjoy along the journey to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. After Visa formalities at the Isebania border you will proceed to Serengeti, Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a “7th World Wide Wonder”. The Serengeti is famed for its annual migration when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek to find fresh grass for grazing
You will arrive in late afternoon at Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp with game drives along the way. You will check-in, freshen-up and have dinner at the Camp. Later you will turn in for the night.

Day 09 – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you will depart with packed lunches in hand to experience a whole day game drive at the park. Get a chance to see the “Big 5”, possible migrations and many more animals.
You will later return for dinner and overnight at Ikoma safari Tented Camp, the mobile tented camp located in Central Serengeti, strategically located to cover the vast Serengeti Plains. The camp offers comfortable accommodations and a unique opportunity to enjoy a real safari camp experience. The camp is only a two hour scenic drive from Olduvai Gorge Museum and Grumeti River. You will enjoy a cozy mess tent located in the centre of the camp where meals are served. The campfire is ready every evening for appetizers and snacks before dinner.

Day 10 – Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservancy with an exciting game drive enjoyed along the way to the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge. You will check-in, have lunch and then leave the camp for a half day Crater Tour. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as a whole, has much to offer but the jewel, without a doubt, is the eponymous crater. The rim of the crater is an astounding 2286 meters above sea level. The floor contains a small soda lake called Lake Magadi and it is estimated that 30000 animals are living in the crater, making it the most intensive safari game viewing area on earth. The crater was declared a “World Heritage Site” in 1978. A visit to Tanzania is simply incomplete without a safari visit to the Ngorongoro Crater. Later in the evening you will drive back for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 11 Ngorongoro Crater – Zanzibar Island 

After breakfast you will check-out and be transferred to JRO Airport for your flight to Zanzibar Island. Upon arrival in Zanzibar you will travel to The Sands Beach Resort Zanzibar for your romantic beach stay. The Sands Beach Resort Zanzibar offers optional activities for an additional fee. Here you will check-in and settle in for the night.

Day 12 – Zanzibar Island

After breakfast you can choose from these Activities:
Option 1: Stone Town Tour: the capital of Zanzibar Island. Most of the houses are more than 150 years old and were constructed from the island’s coral stone by Arab and Indian merchants in the 19th century.

Option 2: Dolphin Watching; Situated on the southern point of the island is Kizimkazi fishing village, once the foremost settlement on the East Coast of Africa, now best known for being home to several schools of Bottlenose and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. The trip is best taken in the afternoon to avoid the crowds of tourists in the morning, which in big numbers can seriously disturb the dolphins. Other species that can be viewed include stingrays and turtles.
Later in the evening you will return to the resort for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 13 – Zanzibar Island

After breakfast you can choose from these Activities:
Option 1: Zanzibar Prison Island: It gets its name from the prison built by the British in 1890. Although never used, the island is now home to the prison ruins, a hotel and a tortoise sanctuary.
Option 2: Spice Tour: Zanzibar was known as the ‘Spice Island’, exporting spices across the world. You can walk through the spice farm touching, smelling and tasting different spices and tropical fruits. You will learn about their properties, origins and use as medicines and in food and drink.

Option 3: Safari Blue: Since 1996, the customers get a memorable experience using the best Zanzibar has to offer. They are the original fully licensed and registered Safari Blue operator. Glide through the warm Indian Ocean and gaze at the abundant and diverse marine life through translucent waters. They will snorkel over two different reefs in the morning.

Later in the evening you will return to the resort for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 14 – Zanzibar Island – Arusha

After breakfast you will check-out and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Arusha where you will connect with your flight back home. This is where your safari will end
