In this lovely village you meet the local people. The village represents more than 25 different tribes (of about 127 tribes in Tanzania). Not far from Mto wa Mbu is an authentic Maasai village, visited by Ajabu Adventures only. After this visit you go to Tarangire to stay overnight.

Day 8 – Tarangire

Today you have a full day of game drives in Tarangire National Park. You can see the large herds of elephants near the Tarangire river, while migratory wildebeest, buffaloes, zebras and impalas crowd the shrinking lagoons. You may be lucky to spot the tree-climbing python for which the park is famous or the largest flying bird (the Kori Bustard).

Day 9 – Travel to Dodoma

Today you drive to the city Dodoma, capital city of Tanzania. Since the distance from the northern part of Tanzania to Ruaha National Park is too far, it is impossible to do it in one day. At the end of the afternoon you will arrive at your accommodation in Dodoma.

Day 10 – Dodoma

Before starting the southern part of your Zanzibar & Tanzania trip we recommend a resting day. This day is at your own leisure and to get some new energy for the exciting days ahead.

Day 11 – Ruaha

After breakfast your journey to the second largest National Park of Tanzania starts (about 6 hour drive and then you have your first game drive in the park). Ruaha has a high diversity of animals and vegetation due to the Ruaha River, which is the main source of water. Enjoy the beautiful wildlife and flora. At the end of the afternoon you arrive at your accommodation for an overnight stay.

Day 12 – Ruaha

Today a full day game viewing in Ruaha National Park. The park boasts of her almost untouched and unexplored ecosystem. Unlike the animals in the northern parks, these animals are less used to safari vehicles which make the safari experience very unique.  At the end of the afternoon you will return to your accommodation for a beautiful sundowner.

Day 13 – Ruaha, Mikumi

The next park is Mikumi National Park. In the morning you first can enjoy another game drive through Ruaha, on your way towards Mikumi National Park (about 5 hour drive). This park is very famous for nocturnal animals such as bush babies and even aardvarks. Other animals in the park are elephants, giraffes, lions, baboons, hippos, kudus and if you are lucky you spot a sable antelope.

Day 14 – Mikumi

Full day of game viewing in the beautiful Mikumi National Park. The landscape of Mikumi is often compared to that of the Serengeti. The vegetation of the area north-west consists of savannah dotted with acacia, baobab, tamarinds, and some rare palm. At about 5 km from the north of the park, there are two pools inhabited by hippos. More than 400 different species of birds also inhabit the park.

Day 15 – Mikumi, Selous Game Reserve

Your next experience on your trip is Selous Game Reserve. You drive in about 4 hours to the Reserve, the largest game reserve in Africa. The Rufiji River provides permanent water and the presence of animals throughout the year. More than 800,000 animals live in the reserve, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and buffaloes. Because there are only a few camps/lodges in the park, you will feel like you are in paradise.

Day 16 – Selous Game reserve

A full day of game drives at Selous Game Reserve.

Day 17+18+19+20 – Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar

Your adventurous trip on the mainland of Tanzania has nearly come to an end. The Zanzibar & Tanzania safari brings you to your next part of your adventure, the beach.
